Run: 1790
Date: Monday 20th February 2012
Hare: Swollen Colon
Venue: Lands End Bridge, Biggera Waters
Runners: 24

Weeks to AGPU: 16
On arrival the car park was full and cars were being marshalled by KB in an attempt to avoid any parking infringements. Bent Banana suggested that Black Stump would cover the costs, but I feel this may have fallen on deaf ears. The Mayor strolled past avoiding any eye contact and trying to appear disinterested in the rabble descending upon his home suburb.
Some of our group was gathered in a circle trying to piece together the events of birthday drinks for Bouncer at the surf club on Sunday. Slowly the story unfolded and what started as a few drinks apparently ended up an epic event with some 11 bottles of red alone destroyed.

Latrine made one of his phantom returns and joined us on the run but as per usual these days disappeared into the night before the festivities and circle. The Hare gathered the pack and advised that it was a 9.5km run and we should be home in 55 minutes.
There was also a walkers trail, we were told, and that the trails were well marked with large arrows. After some 500 metres we still had not found anything resembling a trail nor arrows.
Finally we found a check, which soon had the pack divided and running in various directions. We ran southwards past Veteran’s abode where he was spotted spying at the running rabble below. An investigation will no doubt be launched to determine why he was too busy too join us, and so close to home.

As the run continued along the waterfront, with a few diversions, the pack soon wilted with only Sir Cumference, Latrine, Rectum and myself now the only runners to be seen. Sir Cumference was dropped off as he tried finding the trail opposite KFC whilst the rest of us went over the bridge and along Loders Creek behind Maccas.

We soon lost Latrine and now only Rectum and myself ran to Chirn Park, near Sir Rabbit’s warren, and slowly began the hilly run northwards. It was now very obvious where the run was heading and on several occasions I suggested to Rectum that local knowledge should prevail and that we should take the “most direct route” home.

However, undeterred by my comments we continued and completed the entire trail apart from missing a small section just over Biggera Creek Bridge. Apparently one or two others also completed the entire run including Bent Banana.
I don’t know about well marked nor the huge arrows we were promised, but the run seemed a good workout for anyone contemplating a half marathon or an upcoming triathlon, gotta say though nice scenery along the waterfront leg.

It appears that no one did the walk, much to the disgust of the Hare and in fact most of the pack just stayed with the out and back option along the waterfront and enjoying the views.
The nosh consisted of a range of delicacies including, Lambs fry and bacon, cat food as most called it (savory mince), peas, spuds and bread rolls followed by apple pie and cream. As I think Croc said, “10/10 for trying to provide something different”.

However, serial whinger, Cumsmoke thought other wise during his food report and the words, bi product and shit came into it, but did mention the peas and bread rolls were good, many of the others said it was good nosh 5/10. Rectum was given the job of the run report and firstly apologised to Sir Cumference in saying that his run was one of the worst for the year and in fact tonight’s run just took over. He said we may well have just run 4.5km one way then just turned around 4/10. A bit harsh but never the less a great night had by all.

By the way, Sir Prince advised that there will be a working bee in Thailand to assist Moonbeams in the painting of his new abode. However one thinks that the work hours will be minimal and in fact the only work going on will be some rabble trying to “supervise” the poor unsuspecting locals.

————————————————————————————————————————————————

Run: 1789
Date: Monday 13th February 2012
Hare: Cumsmoke
Venue: Rugby Club Benowa
Runners: 23

Weeks to AGPU: 17
It must have been a busy day for poor old Cumsmoke, allegedly working 6 days per week, having to ring Caustic to organise a wet weather venue, ring Pizza to organise a piss stop at the Pizza Palace, set a run, watch it get washed out and reset via the mobile alternative, now that’s stressful! By the way KB and Rectum ended up getting conned to cook the food, and Rug did the money, so this was really an outstanding effort at “outsourcing the run”, he just need someone to set it for him and he would have got the Quinella.

The pack of 23 soles gathered at the rugby grounds and were given the brief to head off into the hills, being warned it was an 8 – 9 km effort but had a drink stop, but the run also ran close to home on a couple of occasions (I’m sure that’s one of the Hash rules, is to not to).

So off we went, with Rectum and Cumagen shortcutting across the field, along Benowa Road before heading left onto the maze of back streets. Through the park at the check (one of few) and over the on back as we figured the run would emerge on the road ahead. Sure enough as the pack continued towards Ashmore, left (via the check with double arrows to the left?) into Hillview Parade and up and down the hills as Rectum disappeared into the distance.

More left and rights, in the hot and humid conditions, as we finally emerged near home but turned right into more side streets. Here the following pack of Sir Prince, Sir Rabbit & Co had got miserably lost but fortunately had Missing Link on hand who had inside information of the drink stop at the Pizza Palace.

So off they went, making a bee line for the drink stop to join the walkers who, I presume, had already got into the the terrific brews on offer. The rest of us, including Sir Cumference, Bent Banana, the Albanian visitors and Cumagen, continued through some what familiar grounds before returning to Benowa Road then right towards the race track precinct. We again emerged at Benowa Road immediately across the road from home and with double arrows and figured it was on home and the drink stop was nothing but the usual smoke screen (alas we were wrong).

The groups returned at varying times as KB and Rectum prepared the feast (well sort of) of snags, chicken skewers and salad followed by pretty little cup cakes (must be a rule against having gay dessert in the Hash). We shared the Rugby BBQ saving Cumsmoke having to clean the trailer (another outsource coup by Cumsmoke).

During the circle KB was iced for plotting to serve the RA a chilli infused snag, unfortunately within ear shot of the RA. Rectum gave the run good marks saying it was well marked, 6.5/10, whilst Truck Tyres said the food was good, 7/10.

Thanks to Caustic for the venue, Pizza for the drink stop, KB & Rectum for cooking and Rug for taking over the Hash Cash job. Thanks too to the Hare, Cumsmoke, for some how pulling this potential debacle out of the fire (pure arse rather then planning one would think)!
————————————————————————————————————————————————
Down Downs;
Cumsmoke; Hare (run set by car)

KB; Trying to pass on chilli infused snag to RA, only to have RA overhearing plan (Iced accordingly)

Bent Banana; Trying to throw rubbish in bin from 1 foot away and miss

Now Loved; Dodgy parking across two car spots & new “Black shoes”

Sir Prince Valiant: Driving wife’s car to Hash when storm threatening

Sir Rabbit; Drinking from wrong hand

Cumsmoke; Returning runner

Pizza; Thanks for excellent brews at his drink stop & returning runner

Caustic; POW (by Cumsmoke) for outsourcing Cumsmoke’s lift home last week to Ferret but. Himself then running out of petrol at entry to home

Cashy?; Rugby Club boss, thanks for use of his all weather venue and BBQ

Run: 1788
Date: Monday 6th February 2012
Hare:Circumference
Venue: Old Burleigh Town
Runners: 29

Weeks to AGPU: 18
Sir Rabbit was suffering his usual logistic nightmares when it’s his turn to drive, car arriving home late, car has no petrol, other car only three seats and no air con. Consequently we were under pressure from the start.

However all looked good as we hit the highway figuring we’d timed it perfectly. Alas the Gold Coast highway system collapsed yet again with a prang at Palm Beach now backing up traffic to Robina.
We ducked off to Reedy Creek Road figuring still plenty of time. Alas again we didn’t figure on the well synchronised traffic light system on the Gold Coast, there is none, as we spent the next 15 minutes waiting for several changes of lights just to get nowhere.

Fortunately the (presumably) Argentinian lass on the red scooter distracted us from our angst. “Don’t worry”, said Sir Rabbit, “they’ll hold the pack till we arrive”. “No they won’t, low care factor”, I replied.
We arrived about 10 minutes late just in time to see the Hare heading north giving us a hint of where the run would finish from. The GM was stationed at the start heading us off in the right direction.

Up over the expected Tallebudgera Creek bridge we went and after a few kilometres we came across Moonbeams and Now Loved gazing across the creek where we would eventually have to get to.
A bit further on we came across KB and Croc doing similar, however as we again found the predictable trail there was no sight of these two to be seen again. Again we seemed to keep reeling a few stragglers as we reached the highway and across the creek again before starting the trek westwards.

Towards the Fleys boardwalk seemed obvious as we continued with Sir Rabbit upsetting some local feral with his horn blowing, however he was under RA orders so he had no choice. In the distance we could hear the reply horn, from Sir Prince presumably.

As we entered the bush we came across the on back and presumed the pack would be going up the hill to circle around. We continued onwards along the track and boardwalk and caught up with Botulism and Rug making the bee line for home.

After about an hour we arrived home to find the rest of the pack well and truly enjoying the birthday crownies provided by Bent Banana (I think). Following the sausage entre, mains of burgers and steak and multitudes of canned goodies and salads the Hare had acquired from Aldi and others, the Gm called the circle to order (the dessert of ice cream and fruit followed).

Rectum gave the run report saying he’d love to say it was wonderful and well marked, but he couldn’t, saying he got lost several times. Cumagen and Link also added that although it was a debacle it was actually one of his better ones 5/10.

The food fared much better with Ferret adding that it saved the Hare and gave it a 7.5/10. Blacky made a well received come back showing off his new additions provided by the hospital. It was obvious he was concerned that the cash was being fritted away and also had to make sure he could make his hospital payments. Another great effort Sir Circumference, great feed and also a thanks to guest chef, Moonbeams.
————————————————————————————————————————————————

Run: 1787
Date: Monday 30th January 2012
Hare: Blowfly & Veteran
Venue: Len Fox Park, Labrador
Runners: 25

Weeks to AGPU: 19
Where was Caustic tonight with the run being held in his favorite part of the Gold Coast, Labrador, with it’s sweeping landscapes, endless trails, vast bushland, and stunning vistas. Even Aussie made the 555 metre trip from his new palatial abode up the road.
There was even some recent sightings of Latrine indicating a possible come back but alas the last sighting was of him with packed bags boarding a bus heading, allegedly, towards the airport, talk about extreme measures to miss a run!
Actually considering the massive down pours we’ve been having, Trail Master, Veteran stepped up to the plate and delivered well at short notice. Blowfly had put his hand up to do the food but said that wife, work and new baby meant he didn’t have time to set a run, another example of a pathetic excuse.
The trail started in the usual direction, north then west along Central Street. Soon the first check then north again before the inevitable zig zag through the back streets of beyond. I managed to find the first on back but sadly only Rectum joined me as the others had strayed behind in the humid conditions and continued on trail.
We soon crossed Government Road and headed along the path towards the Aussie Rules ground. Around the oval then another check before the start for home eastward up the hill and again across Government Road and towards the sports centre. Sir Slab and I lost the trail here as Swollen and Rectum continued on trail.
We figured we’d soon pick them up if we headed along Turpin Road and sure enough as we emerged at the Broadwater we came across the walkers and the two front runners for the sprint home.
Sadly Flasher had a crook leg so he failed, yet again, to find another alternative route through Labrador. Aussie gave the run a good report saying it was well marked but could have done with some more checks, 8/10. The fine feast of garlic bread, pasta dish & home made ice cream, prepared by Blowfly was given a “very nice” report by KB and received 7/10.
————————————————————————————————————————————————

Run: 1786
Date: Monday 23rd January 2012
Hare: Rug “Haggis Run”
Venue: Hansford Road, Coombabah
Runners: 26

Weeks to AGPU: 20
The huge down pour a few hours before the run sent the message that the run was in danger of becoming another wet weather debacle. However Rug, determined as ever, reset the run with toilet paper and paper strips held down by rocks for checks to ensure something of a trail would be visible.
A good pack of 26, especially considering the conditions, showed obviously responding to the marketing initiative of Rug by calling this his famous “Haggis on Hansford Run”. We were set on our way east along Hansford Road, but it wasn’t long before we ran out of trail and had to turn back and down the bike path heading south.
Another check then left, east again, and right around the loop. Caustic and I over ran the turn and had to turn back and employ some local knowledge to have us soon back at the front of the pack.
Up over the fence I went only to discover it wasn’t locked at all and was left “swinging in the breeze”. Into the environment park we went facing off with the mob of Roos upset at us disturbing their evening feed.
Along the park tracks we went, left then left again, right and right again. Yet another check, which saw me, Fabio and new guy, Martin heading the wrong way. Again local knowledge, or belief in said knowledge, took over as the three of us headed along the creek to head off the pack. We eventually found the trail again, where it came out of the familiar swamp section, happy to have missed this leg.
Now well in front we continued along the creek, back on the road before heading along the boardwalk, where we had earlier spied the walkers. Another kilometre or so along the walk ways before turning north along the back street before reconnecting with Hansford Road for the short and sharp sprint home.
A few other suspects came in at varying times indicating that it seemed several trails had been on offer or invented by the hounds. Considering the conditions prior to the run it was well acknowledged and given a glowing report by Sir Slab, although he did get lost at the end.
A good mark of 7.35 ensured. Given the circle was held early Aussie, the assistant chef, was asked to give an appraisal of the complex feast being prepared and he assured it was all class and gave it a 7.5/10. The feast of 10YO scotch nips, soup, haggis, shortbread and dessert was well received. Of note was the official Haggis ceremony presided over by an enthusiastic Caustic, who is still struggling to remove his blue paint from his Braveheart face.
It was a scene worth remembering; 26 blokes standing around a Haggis, drinking scotch and listening to a Mel Gibson look alike recite Scottish verse in the midst of a major down pour. We should have filmed it, if some 10 year old kid can get 11 million hits on u-tube for singing some rap song about mutts and goldfish surefly we can become a cult following!
Well done Rug, a classic evening to be well remembered, and extra points for delivering in atrocious conditions.
————————————————————————————————————————————————

hello Hashers
As you know I took it upon myself to regalle myself in Scottish resplendent attire including the battle face blue “woad”

I ran out of time today and had to stop at Bunnings and grabbed a small can of blue paint which the attendant assured me was for face painting;I have just returned home after a quick pit stop at the Pizza ‘Hut” and tried to remove the “face paint”

It didnt “remove “!!

After reading the can it was for painting “FACE BRICKS” !!!

Has anybody got any ideas how to remove without reverting to Hannibal Lectern tactics ??

I have tried soap, white spirit ,mild caustic soda, and paraffin swab !!

No good !!

Meeting with my bankers in the morning to try and get an extension to my default mortgage and would appreciate an early call;the earlier the better !!

On ON

Caustic

Run 1785
Date: Monday 16th Jan. 2012
Hare: Truck Tyres
Venue: Pizzey Park, Miami
Runners: 19

Weeks to AGPU: 21

A small pack assembled at the designated start point, spur of pacific av. Miami. Conditions were bleak, overcast and threatening rain, half the pack in raincoats.

The Hare Truck Tyre’s instructions were quite clear, but not the markings of chalk, flour, paper and would probably get washed out. The runners set of to Pacific Av. on trail, left into Oceanic Dr. and on to Pizzey Dr. at this point rain, rain and more rain, markings holding up but only just, a left turn into Pizzey Park Sporting Complex and on through some pretty good running hash territory, ably lead by FRB’S Miscarriage and new runner Favio (aka James).

The pack confused at this point due to return markings, suddenly realized we have short cutted a big portion of the run so far. Half the pack decided enough of the wet weather and headed home on the return markings, Which left Miscarriage, Fabio ( aka James) Bent Banana and Veteran to make a decent run of it, all be it a wet run. Not on trail to Bardon Av.

The now small pack headed past the Gold Coast Burleigh Heads Golf Club, through some back streets on through the East side of Pizzey Park and on on home.

Run: 1784
Date: Monday 9th January 2012
Hare: Elvis
Venue: Runaway Bay Soccer Club
Runners: 23

Weeks to AGPU: 22
A good pack arrived, many sporting their Elvis tribute shirts, in line with the recent Gold Coast Elvis festival at Surfers. Elvis was running around flogging off the remainder of his suspect 2012 edition of his tribute shirts sporting the famous Gold Coast “Hasn” slogan, truely to be a collectors item.

We were given the brief by the Hare, who would not be joining us as he was else where committed playing football (or soccer to some). The arrows were in pink, blue or white and lots of toilet paper and flour, we were told, so Blacky would not get lost in the wilds of Runaway Bay. We trudged off into the steamy hot night, figuring a long hot slog in the famous environment park.

After some tooing and froing we finally picked up the trail at the north of the fields and soon came across our first check. Local knowledge soon had us heading west following the mini arrows. Another check then it was north along Morala Avenue where the trail turned east following the sports centre fence line. Usual suspect, Flasher, decided here he would do his own usual run and continued north, not to be seen again for some time.

The walkers, with map in hand, in Crocodile’s capable hands headed off north unaware the map was upside down and were now following Flasher in the reverse direction, another debacle in the making. The rest of us continued on trail, which now seemed to turn through the environment park, but via some suspect swamp.

Undeterred and as determined as always, Misscarriage headed into the swamp only to be swallowed up and go arse over. Seeing this the rest of us back tracked and continued on trail. Another check at the bike track then around the cricket oval before heading east across another field to the sight of the biggest Hash marking in recent times.

Further over and along the bike track before heading towards Oxley Drive. Along the west of the park we went before the inevitable right turn at the bush section. The following pack, with a map in possesion, however missed this and headed North for the long tour of the park and the eventual extra 40 minute stroll. The remainder came across the walkers going in reverse and Flasher lost at some check claiming he had been on trail all the time.

The trail soon emerged at the eastern edge of the park before the solid kilometere run home with the front runners finishing in about 35 minutes, enough for the hot and humid night. Flasher however got it all wrong again and took the wrong turn over shooting the home trail (Karma they call it).

Back at the car park the group gathered and consumed the Crownies finally brought by Crocodile whilst we awaited the lost patrol of Sir Prince, Sir Rabbit, Jospehine, Aussie and Rug. Cumsmoke and Flatulance had discoverd the Zumba class and were considering joining before realising they were well out of their league.

After all had arrived it was time for a short circle under the full moon before heading indoors for the curry and ice cream feast. The group settled back and watched the evening games whilst partaking in a few ales and wines (with a few acquiring left overs from the sausage sizzle).
————————————————————————————————————————————————
Down Downs;
Flasher; Serial shortcutter

Crocodile; Leading walkers on reverse trail, even with map in possesion

Elvis; Hare

Misscarriage; Failing to bring GM gift from OS tour

Testicle; Leading Misscarriage astray at airport bar (now there’s a first)

Crocodile; Awarded POW by Rug for walker incident and slow to produce Crownies

Elvis & Testicle; Retuning runners

Run: 1783
Date: Monday 2nd January 2012
Hare: Moonbeams & Caustic
Venue: Hinze Dam
Runners: 30 + 2

Weeks to AGPU: 23
Firstly, welcome back to all and your glorious Hierarchy hope that 2012 is a great year for all, hopefully much better than 2011 was for the majority.
Secondly, having only just returned from spending any remaining available Hash funds at lovely Noosa, I thought I should do a quick recap of the last two runs I missed, although these reports are delivered via third party info and any resemblence to fact is purely coincidental.
The Xmas run, as usual, was kept to the highest possible standards regardless of what a few selfish types will tell you, though I did note a few things happened that were not on the notes I made at our last Hierarchy meeting. However I believe the night went off without any hitches and the entertainment and food was of the highest order (pigs do fly).
I did hear from some whingers that at one venue the Guiness was wasted as it took them so long to pour that it was time to leave when the finally got it, and at another venue the gas was stuffed so no piss was available except in stubbies, which the Hierarchy thought too expensive, and apparently there was no piss at the Chinese Restaurtant in Benowa upon arrival but quick action by the Hierarchy quickly saw quality wines delivered and another top evening had by all. AH, having suffered an unfortunate accident was whisked around in a wheel chair donated apparently by Sir Slab, now that’s the way to do a Xmas run.
Hopefully most of you had more than your fair share and have no recollection of the event anyway so we can tell you anything we want.
At Show Pony’s run on Boxing Day, at Hope Island, a small group of 8 showed up, having had enough of Xmas festivities and in need of something else. Being considerate at this time of year a casual stroll was the order of the day and Pony, having catered for the usual 25+ crowd, ensured there was ample food for all and of good quality, possibly redeeming himself of past doings, although I suggest he will never be forgotten for his effort at Arundel.
Which brings us back to the current run at Hinze Dam. Moonbeams and Causic decided to host an early start and made the day a more family affair with partners and family invited to join in the festivities.
Misscarriage and clan arrived straight from the plane having been over seas in Asia and or Christmas Island (same thing I guess). A good pack of 30 Hashers and partners plus Misscarriages two little ones gathered and soon after 2:00pm we headed off into the new surrounds of the now finished dam renovations/extensions.
The trail started up hill, as expected, and soon hit the horse trails across the road. The next few kilometres was like the new roller coaster at Movie World, up and down and all around.
Somehow after the first check Blackstump went one way and I the other only to both find trails and end up together at the next check, unique I must say. More hills and more trail running before we descended to the quarry road.
Here I noted Flasher had shortcutted by following the Hare, Cautic. I advised Flasher that the run had to go left as it lead to the dam but he reluctantly checked and advised no trail in sight and ran back only to be turned back again as he in fact had gone the right way but not far enough. Blacky and I soon took the lead and headed right only to be caught on a good long on back, leaving us now well behind the rest, talk about from the penthouse to the shit house in one swift moment.
Soon the pack was together again as we headed towards the inevitable dam. After some 30 minutes of good hard and hot slogging we came to the “Bear Grylis” section of the run as we headed off trail and up into the virgin bush. Fortunately Misscarriage and Truck Tyre had now taken the lead and were our official snake flushers and decoys.
Blacky was struggling with his slippery shoes and kept trying to slide down the mountain and ended up in the midst of every bit of lantana and stinging bushes in existance, cutting himself to ribbons in the process. Finally we emerged at the quarry to then run along the top, down the rocks, across the flats and back up another rock hill before the final leg home through the visitor centre and down the steps to home base.
A good hour long slog, though I figure most would have liked to bypass the bush section, just ask Blackstump for his thoughts.
Back at base camp Moonbeams was busy cooking up the snag sangers and delicious steak burgers. During the circle KB gave the food a commendable 8.25/10 and the run was given a 9/10 by Truck Tyre. Rug was spied trying to catch a few zzeds in the circle, no doubt reflecting on his recent run achievement, but was soon brought back to life via the Hierarchy water cannon.
The GM was given a travellers gift of a two sided willy warmer, quality and success to be reported on in due course. Formalities over, it was time to leave before being locked in for the night and all departed around 5:30pm with the thoughts of being home for dinner on a Monday night! A great start to 2012 and well done to the Hares and all for attending what was a fun afternoon.
PS On the way home we came across an unfortunate accident between a motor bike and bus (no prize for guessing who came off worse) at the Helensvale, Pacific Pines intersection.
A policeman was at the scene directing traffic when he noted someone had pulled up in the left lane just past the busy intersection and was getting out to talk to the police officer.
Just as the officer (now angry) was trying to tell the idiot goose to get out of the way another car plowed into the back of the said goose’s car. Three large Islander types got out of this car and only one can guess what happened next, but it would have looked great on U Tube.
————————————————————————————————————————————————
Ferret; Trying to dob on someone
